I wasn’t such a frequent joiner in-er at WW last month. The main reason for that is that sometimes I feel like a bit of a gimp, and I worry that anyone reading this might think I think I’m all that. I know I’m not, and in case you’re wondering this is what Wardrobe Wednesday means to me (from my first time joining in WW.):
..”it’s all about distilling your personal style and feeling good about yourself without feeling that you need to conform to whatever new trend has popped up this season. I think this is particularly important for Mums – because just because we may no longer work in an office and may get puked or pooped on doesn’t mean that we should have to give up style.”
Despite sometimes feeling like a gimp, I have really been enjoying WW – it’s made me think a bit about what I wear and made me look through my wardrobe and wear things in different ways – even remix some of my old office clothes into my wardrobe.
This is why this months WW is awesome – the theme is remix and all it’s all about wearing a garment different ways. Kinda like this!
Outfit breakdown:
Cape Coat- Ezibuy (gift), Dress/tunic- Principals, tights and slip- I can’t remember (?), grey merino wrap – very old from Glassons, red leather gloves – redcurrent, boots – overland (gift), cuff bracelet – thrifted.
Gosh, when I write it all down I realise I am wearing a lot of different items today – well I guess that comes with layering. Layering is great in the Hawkes Bay as it can be crisp and frosty especially in the morning and evening and beautifully sunny during the day.
I also now realise that both the boots and coat are both birthday gifts (on different years) from my very generous Mum. It’s actually by birthday on Friday. A significant number … something starting in 3 and ending in 0!
The item I plan to ‘remix’ this month is the Principals dress/ tunic. I plan to go hard because I REALLY want to win this month’s awesome prize of an $80 Sailor Spy voucher!!!
And while we’re on the topic of ‘remixing’ check out this AWESOME video where a woman wore 1 dress for a whole year! – I don’t think I could pull off all of those looks, but it’s very inspiring nonetheless!

That is such a pretty dress and I can't wait to see all your combos - can I talk you into coloured tights?? :D LOVE the cape and red gloves too.
Please keep sharing and don't feel like a 'Tall Poppy'!! I think maybe where Wardrobe Wednesday differs from other 'show us your outfit' posts is its about real people. If someone thinks your vain or 'all that' for posting your outfit they obviously haven't followed your blog very carefully to understand how much you love your family and your craft!

I am SO coveting those gloves - gorgeous. I had a wee chuckle with a friend the other day who gets my blog via email and her daughter said to her 'Why is Miriam always emailing you pictures of herself' ummm, yeah! Sounds weird when you put it like that. I always look forward to everyone's WW posts.
Thanks ladies - it's silly really, and no-one has said anything to me, I think that the world of social media and especially blogging makes you feel like you're talking about yourself all the time... 'I made this/ my kid did this/ look at a picture of me.'
I always loved the WW posts I followed before I started blogging and never thought them vain or anything... I think that when you start doing them and somehow when that self timer starts beeping I seem to strike a 'I think I'm a super model hands on hips pose'and feel a bit self conscious... but as my husband said when we were dating as teenagers...'everyone is all worried about how THEY look/ appear to others that no-one is actually looking at and criticising YOU." Such a wise man!
Ooh those brown boots - please feature them more! And don't be self conscious - its so great to see real people - fashion mag looks are so unachievable these days. If I did these posts I think it would be Wednesday after Wednesday of jeans and ballet flats...with the occasional track suit and runners thown in! hahaha And don't forget - we read because we LIKE YOU LOTS! xox
Gorgeous Jenny and 30 on Friday huh! That is a crazy day for me so if I forget to text Happy Birthday and looking forward to another catch up soon. x
